Abstract

The impact of information technology (IT) services on businesses in every industry has never been greater. Indeed, it is rare to find a product or service that is not touched by, or enabled by IT in some manner. IT is a key source of innovations that drive growth. Smarter IT service innovations will enable e-commerce’s growth via optimization and transformation. We can expect a shift from a two-sided marketplace (BUY and SELL) to a dynamic marketplace (CREATE, BUY, and SELL) in the next stage of e-commerce (e.g., mobile commerce, creative commerce, social commerce). This special section of the International Journal of Electronic Commerce is devoted to three essential categories that enhance outcomes of e-commerce: personalization, price, and process flow.
