Description

Corporate reputation and the natural environment have attracted interest from academics and practitioners in the last decades. The natural environment has also been a concern for corporations, governments and national and international institutions. Existing empirical research has addresses both issues independently. We study these two topics in combination. This proposal draws upon the multidimensionality of reputation. Firstly, we attempt to find conceptual arguments in the literature to support the idea that different reputations may exist. Recognizing the growing importance of the environmental dimension of reputation, we suggest that corporate reputation and corporate environmental reputation may be different. Secondly, we would test empirically this potential difference between reputations. In order to test these hypotheses, we would select a sample from the largest firms in the USA. We would undertake a factor analysis and conclusions would be derived from the results.
