Abstract

This is a proposal for the expansion of the University of Washington Tacoma. I, as a student that attends UWT, I witness the lack of public and green spaces on the campus. My vision is to open up UWT to the public. For example allow the mixture of the community and students, parks, and seating to be open to everyone. UWT has an upper hand to where its placed smack in the middle of the city. The word that best describes my design is integration. If universities are able to integrate with the community, it will allow them to provide higher education but also not cause the community any hassle. Being integrated will allow the community not only to benefit from education but also the different things that come with a university. This proposal will dive into the current constraints and opportunities UWT has and what my proposed design would look like.
