Abstract

The University of Washington Tacoma is an urban serving university. The school is divided by streets with high volumes of vehicular traffic and poor walk-ability given the priority to the car, The University has developed a cluster of institutional buildings on the eastern portion of land that protects the pedestrian from the street. The eastern half of campus remains undeveloped, unmaintained green spaces. The student body and the population of Tacoma continues to grow, there needs to be major investment to improve the neighborhood to satisfy the needs of the current and future populations.
