Description

The purpose of this qualitative study is to examine the relation between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Human resource Management (HRM). Since decades CSR has been an topic of heavily debate, that slowly introduced itself into several disciplines and domains of study. HRM should be one of these domains, since many aspects of CSR are related with it. Current theoretical and empirical studies show however, that both domains are still often treated separately. Relying on three cases with very different conceptions of CSR, we explore how the relationship CSR-HRM can be theorized. Our findings suggest that this relationship can be one of sustaining, inspiring and reinforcing. We conclude by reflecting on the strengths and weaknesses of each type of relationship.
