Abstract
This TAC Talk addresses how U.S. policies trend towards economic interests, protecting a person’s identity or finances and how information collected in digital spheres has a greater potential for harm due to the degree of closeness to the individual. It explains the need to problematize the issue of Big Data by pushing past the economic boundaries established by big business allowing the U.S to challenge the status quo of the data industry and shift values toward social values.
